Matt’s business philosophy is very simple: work hard for your clients and make yourself available. He has an honest, knowledgeable and diligent manner that gets results. Matt’s approach is to patiently guide and educate his clients to a point where they become confident and knowledgeable about the market in which they are to buy or sell. This method has resulted in high customer satisfaction and a great customer referral base. Matt has over 15 years experience representing buyers & sellers of single family homes, condos, distressed properties, new construction and multi-unit investment properties. He specializes in the Bucktown, Wicker Park, Lakeview, Old Town and Gold Coast neighborhoods along with sales experience in the Oak Park / River Forest communities.

Matt holds a bachelors degree in Economics from Illinois State University and was a member of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange from 1994 to January 2011 as a financial trader. He’s active in the West Bucktown Neighborhood Association & Unity Temple Congregation of Oak Park, Illinois. When he isn’t working with clients, Matt enjoys reading financial news, following the Stock Markets, watching the Cubs and canoeing rivers throughout the Midwest.

Simply put, Matt is the best real estate agent I have ever come across and I doubt there is a better one out there. My girlfriend and I took forever to find a place and make up our minds, seeing over 80 places with Matt over a period of 8 months. Not once in this time was Matt ever pushy or like a "typical sales man". Instead, he provided great insight and an honest opinion on many properties and neighborhoods. By doing this he turned us away from many properties we thought we were interested when in fact they were not the best fits for us. When we finally picked our place and were going through the closing process, Matt was the only one (besides for us) that stayed on top of everything and made sure all the deadlines were met and the process went as smoothly as possible. Matt is a genuinely great person and I will turn to him in the future when the time comes and recommend him to all my friends who need a realtor.

Matt was extremely accommodating to our ever changing desired neighborhoods. He showed us over 70 properties and not once did he seem antsy with any of it. In fact, he was the person who tied together all parts of our closing. He's a good man and he's great at what he does.

Matt's number one goal is getting people into the home they want. He does not pressure his clients. In fact, he often had to remind us to take our time, make sure we got a good sense of the market and, if one home we liked went away, he reminded us that there were always other houses. We eventually landed in an absolutely fantastic house and we have Matt's stewardship of the process to thank for it. I'd recommend him to anyone in the Chicago market.

I can't say enough praise of Matt. He truly exceeded our expectations of what a realtor/broker should do for clients. He helped us thing thru the type of house that would best fit our lifestyle and stage of life. He clearly explained the difference (and warnings) between a regular sale, a short sale, and a foreclosure. This was truly helpful. When I wanted to compromise on a major aspect of what I originally wanted, Matt told me "no" let's keep looking. If I compromise then I may have buyer’s remorse later. Wow, was he right. We kept looking and found the perfect house. Matt pointed out all the good&bad things about each house we saw, things I would not have notices. Matt really went to bat for us when it came time to negotiation. He gave us advice and explained the consequences, but the decision was mine. I would highly recommend Mr. Walton as a realtor/broker who will help you get what you want, reduce the complication, and spare you many potential headaches. I'm confident you will have a similar excellent experience because he really seems to care for every client like they were his only client. Matt helped my husband & I buy our first place. He guided us through a process that we knew little about, giving us honest feedback and setting realistic expectations. Matt is responsive, reliable, & extremely knowledgeable about the process & the market. Perhaps most important, we always knew Matt had our best interests at heart. After meeting Matt through Truila, I now consider him not only my realtor but also a great friend. He’s very honest, open and understanding. He’s one of the hardest working people I know. I met Matt through a friend/co-worker who has know him for years and raved about him. When it came time for my boyfriend and I to find a new apartment, we were so lucky to come across Matt! We had been through a nightmare with our old management company, so Matt was working hard to find us a knockout affordable place in a new neighborhood. Matt picked us up, drove us all around the area and explained to us in detail the areas we should stick to and which ones to avoid. I initially contacted Matthew regarding a property rental I had seen on line. Although that particular property didn't pan out I ended up using him as a kind of consultant pertaining to the ethics of employing multiple realtors when property shopping. Although he knew that I was already using another realtor he responded to my concerns in a manner that was honest, intelligent and well considered. As first time home buyers we had ideas about what we were looking for, but nothing specific. Matt helped us figure out what we wanted and took us through almost 80 homes before we found the right one. As we walked through properties, he educated us by helping identify potential problem areas in basements, attics, roofs and foundations. Matt is probably one of the best real estate agents in Chicago. Matt never sleeps, instead he power naps in between showings. Matt loves to visit properties, and has a very flexible schedule which was great for us, since my wife and I work 9-5 on weekdays. You can pretty much call Matt any time of day and he will answer or call you back very quickly. Matt helped us in every aspect of buying a distressed condo, which meant understanding the financing, setting up inspections, contacting contractors for repair estimates, arranging a closing attorney, and helping to gather association documents. Matt has great advise on buying in Chicago, what to look for, and how the process works.

Matt was an integral part of our home buying experience. Over the course of seven months he arranged for us to see over 60 homes in more than six neighborhoods in the Chicagoland area. He scrutinized each home as if he were purchasing it for himself and he took care of everything from arranging appointments, mapping routes, coordinating with our lender, and putting us into contact with a lawyer and a home inspector. After living in our new home for two weeks we discovered a leak in our basement foundation. Matt contacted the seller and was able to recoup the money we had to pay out for the repairs..
